Demolition derbies and time trials are the highlights of TNT racers, a pick-up-and-play kart racing game heavy on action but light on reality. This PSP game is old-fashioned arcade racing, with plenty of souped-up jalopies, plenty of power-ups that can be used to do evil kaput, and enough fast racetracks to keep the trigger on the gas to an insignificant number of hours. A few problems with missing-in-action online multiplayer can get you to hit the brakes, but Keen Games still give you some very good Vroom-Vroom game for just eight bucks.
Cartoon-like vehicles contribute to TNT racers' jaunty charm.
TNT Racers is a simple arcade kart racing. Amusement is picked from a relatively short list of vehicles such as old timers like Archie used to run around Riverdale and sporty autos out of The Fast and the Furious. All cars have different strengths when it comes to such things as speed and handling, although the physics, then Arcade friendly (you rarely have to take your finger off the gas) that all pretty much doing the same. In a race, you're running laps blow up cactus in a windswept desert, the next you're taking on enemies insisted knock you out creaky wooden bridges in a Mayan jungle.

So there's not a whole lot of surprises here. But although TNT racers does not offer much innovation, it's still an inspired knockoff. Racing is predictable and rather superficial, without a lot of real variation in how race plays out, but for the budget price, sure you get your money's worth. Running is very fast, with waves sometimes ending in a few seconds, because any car caught off the bottom of the screen immediately goes boom. This does not mean that you become a spectator, though, in most races, you immediately resurrected as a ghost car with the ability to play spoiler and smashing up opponents. Track comes with a lot of dangers, which you can slide down the ice to water, careen into ravines, and roar into walls. AI drivers have great chops, as well. The merit of staying on the track and do everything to force you away from the bottom of the screen.
Power-ups are well balanced and varied. There are more than a dozen of them, including secular speed bursts, repair kits, candy cannons, confetti bombs, a giant hammer, which shakes the whole screen, cartoon weights attached to the pistons, and even an inverter that turns the whole process. It's a shame that there is a multiplayer community after the game because crazy chaos here really suited for multiplayer. The developers have also set things up for a healthy online experience, with support for one-off races of all types, and tournaments.You get your money's worth out of solo challenges and ad-hoc only, although anyone who truly values online games should think twice before pulling the trigger on a purchase.
Although TNT racers can accurately be categorized as an arcade racer in the mold of classic Micro Machines, it is not a cheap rip-off. Zippy cars, challenging courses, hard AI opposition, and a long list of cool power-ups make it a compelling racing game with just enough of his own personality to keep you coming back for more.
