Transcend 6....Said and Unsaid
What you say is the most fundamental force of our intellect, even though we may think in words, but the same very words when produced in the form of language, has the power to limit or set us free, frighten or evoke courage, based on our sensory perceptions. It's what we say makes us who we are. In order to have a good living, the usage of right and proper words becomes necessary, so as to have a control or balance in any situation.
Therefore, when someone speaks, you would not know whether those thoughts interpreted into words are coming from the heart or from the calculations of the mind. But, then we communicate, and that can be wonderful, we respond, as per the circumstance, reflecting our own character and experience of life, through our words, with the right speech, the right quantum of speech, neither less nor more, not trying to be judgemental, communicating in a simple manner, expressing our heart with minimal words, desiring that we should be understood by others, sometimes more through the unsaid, rather than proving yourself constantly by the said. Besides, we also have to be careful of our impulsive utterances, because the wounds if created by the said are at times far more damaging and difficult to heal, rather than say a wound caused by a burn.
Many a times, the unsaid wins over the said. It is also said that people who know, speak less. Like a good painter would let his work speak rather than himself. Even if the said has the power to alter sensory perceptions, the sensory organs without saying anything communicates bodily or biochemically and reveals one self. By the power of speech, expression, intellect, and the circumstance, we may debate for or against any subject and also convince the world at large, but on the other hand it is also said that more important than saying the right thing at the right time, is leaving unsaid the wrong thing at the right time.
Moreover, in life if one is following the path of self development, the deeper you go into understanding yourself, the quieter you become. You start experiencing, perceiving life in a broader sense; you tend to become more of a listener or reader than a talker. The more you enter into this field, the farther away you are from the rest, as people would rather listen to actors and performers rather than wanting to understand the realities of life. Therefore, if you are in a crowd, where joy comes from the comforts of materialism and ego-consciousness, it is better to be silent. Like it is also said, that without silence to interrupt the sounds, there can be no music, it would be flat and a continuous note, just filling in the void. Then there is this unique advantage in listening, imagine you'll always remain a humble learner, because gurus and the learned don't listen, they give speeches.
Today, in spite of training ourselves to say the right things, we may become artificial, because eventually, it is integrity and the strength of our character which ensures our speech directly or otherwise, clearly reflecting our personality. Silence, has a tendency to isolate, I feel one should never hesitate from speaking i.e. if and when the situation demands, because saying a few words is not going to cost anything as long as we don't regret it later.
The power of language is so strong, that it is very important to choose your words carefully. Turn into your language and you'll know who you really are, if there is fear, your words would be full of can't, won't, etc., and you would be negative in nature or you can also change yourself, by changing your words. Even something as simple as referring to any mistake done, stating it as an experience gained, can change the whole outlook towards oneself. Through the said, always remember, we create our world, because life is nothing until we know how to describe it.
