Indian institute of technology, the dream destination for all the students aiming to pursue a degree in engineering, is the top most engineering college in the country. Admission into an IIT college is something, which is the very basic step, yet is the toughest task to be performed by the student. Students really have to put in a lot to grab a seat for themselves in any of the colleges of IIT. There is a joint entrance examination for entry into an IIT college. The entrance examination for IIT is called IIT- JEE. The IIT- JEE 2010, entrance examinations have already been conducted which was on 11th April, 2010, and recently even the results have also come out on 26th May, 2010. Though, it is very tough to crack the IIT- JEE entrance examinations, many students have been to crack the admission test and now is the time, when the students have to take important decisions step by step to reach their dream destination.
The first step which comes after the declaration of results is the online filling of choices, which is open for all the candidates, who have qualified in the entrance examination. This procedure has already begun from 26th May, 2010 and will last till 9th June, 2010. In the choice forms, the student needs to fill the preferred area or subject field in which he would like to pursue his engineering degree. The admission to these IIT colleges can be obtained according to the rankings achieved by the students at the IIT entrance examination. After the online filling of choices, a medical check- up and counselling session is arranged for PD candidates, which is from 9th- 11th June, the schedule for which would be announced on the IIT website. The counselling sessions for SC/ ST/ PD/ DS candidates will be held from 9th- 10th June and for OBC will be held from 10th- 12th June. The counselling sessions for these candidates are held to verify their identities and also to help them in choosing their respective engineering courses.
The students need to submit duly signed and filled choice sheets by the 17th of June, 2010. After which the final list of the course allotted to respective students is released over the internet. Also, an aptitude test will be conducted on 10th of June, 2010, to test the students on their mathematical, logical and analytical skills. After qualifying through all these stages, a student is fit for taking admission into IIT, the best engineering college in India. Life after IIT, s surely a bliss and one can experience the best of the career opportunities after qualifying from IIT, so students who have not able to crack IIT- JEE this year can surely try one more time and try their luck in the next IIT- JEE entrance examination, because its worth dropping an year.
