Cheating in an intimate relationship is a big problem. It is most often a deal breaker, and will cause the relationship to end. However, some couples try to work it out, and restoring trust in what is needed. It won't be easy, but here are some ways to work on this.

One important point to consider is that both the man and woman will need to change some behaviors and attitudes. It is just the offending party. But even after infidelity, you can save your love with your mate. One place to start is with whatever small amount of faith you have in each other and build from there. Start where you are at and work on trust.

Prior to being able to begin rebuilding trust in each other, you'll need to take an honest look at what went wrong. Our natural tendency would be to blame the other individual, and they're likely at fault to some extent, but the only individual you've total control of is yourself; as a result, you'll need to look at yourself closely. Once you discover the source of the problem, you are able to take actions to fix it.

For example, what was your partner looking for in the other person by having the affair? Is it something you aren't providing? If you can figure out what seemed to be the cause, you at least have a chance to work on it individually and together. Talk about these things. When you are working on saving your relationship, you have to consider underlying causes as best you can. Then you can work on it.

The next step would be to begin really gaining some trust once again. One of the greatest places to start is rebuilding honesty. By working on this, you'll build trust in time. Of course, that's simple to say, but much harder in practice. So, the trick here would be to take little actions. Tell your mate the truth, that if you'll meet at a restaurant at 5 PM, then be there by 5 PM. It doesn't need to be something large, just begin demonstrating your ability to stick to your word.

Such little things help you to restore trust over time. They accumulate and grow. Keep your word and don't give excuses. Do what you say you'll do. Work on the underlying issues. Keep working on this and in time you will build more trust.

Restoring belief in love in relationships isn't a simple task. It will take some time, but it can be done. Maintain your focus on trust, and keep taking those little actions, and soon you are going to be happy again.

Consider seeing a therapist after an affair. Get help restoring trust. They are professionals. This is a complex problem. There is no shame in it. But there are some things you can do to heal your relationship and then make it stronger.
