Problems with amateur internet video and how to improve them to increase traffic

Video marketing is the new buzz in internet marketing. Internet businesses are increasingly incorporating internet video when marketing their products and services. But there has been one major problem with this marketing strategy online entrepreneurs taking their video production for granted.

Businesses will shoot something from on a handy cam, upload it and hope it will go viral. While this may make the cost of production cheap, its shows that some internet businesses appreciation are yet to appreciate the benefits of a good video and the damage to the brand from a poorly done one.

So what are the shortcomings frequently found with amateur video? One of the most glaring mistakes with such video is the poor sound. And if the sound is terrible, the video will not only be irritating to the person watching, but it will also not effectively communicate the message.

Amateurs will usually record the sound and the video together by relying on the microphone on the handy cam. A better approach is to instead record the sound separately either in a studio or a quiet room where there is no external noise interference. Another way would be to use an external microphone that will better capture the sound on location.

The second major error on amateur internet videos is poor visibility. If the images are not sharp or clear, the intent of the video will be lost. High definition recorders are no longer as expensive as they once were. But if you one does not have access to a high definition camera, they can engage the services of a professional camera person.

Poor lighting is another bane of amateur videos. This is more so when the shooting is taking place indoors. Where possible, portable studio lights should be used since they can be hired. But if professional lighting is not available, and then ordinary lighting can be used and still achieve a relatively professional finish. If indoor shooting is not necessary, then the video can be done outdoors during the day while taking care to avoid the glare of the sun.

Another common mistake is the choice of music. The music should complement the content of the video. Businesses must bear in mind that the musical tastes of their target market may be very diverse. For this reason, music that may be considered on the extremes such as heavy metal and hardcore rap should be avoided.

Amateur videos are infamous too for poor quality of editing and their characteristic rawness. Many amateur videos include footage that should otherwise have been cut out. Since the length of the video plays a part in how effective it will be, the video should only include information that helps communicate the core message.
