Stress of colleagues going on strike

I volunteer to come to work the other day, as everyone else was on strike and unfortunately I wasn't a member of the unions so I technically wasn't "allowed to strike". I thought it would be a really quiet and easy day where I wouldn't necessarily have to do a lot of work.

But instead I had barely sat down for a few minutes when my managers asked me to help out at an event that was going on that day. It was one of our corporate events that we hold every year which was due to take place in the evening, and everyone was really stressed out about it. I don't take to a lack of planning lightly; and it bothers me a lot when people do not put in the time and effort to think about everything that needs be done in a methodical approach.

As expected, I had a lot of information to digest very quickly and it's a good thing that I am able to process plans quite quickly, the event was in the evening and so we spent a lot of the day running around and trying to get everything in place, the venue, the setup, everything. It was a huge job! The hall was medium size, but there was so much decoration and setup to do and the whole place needed to be tidied up because it was quite run down.

Nonetheless, time flew by, it wasn't the most exciting of events but before I knew it the event was over and I was on my way home to be tucked up in bed. It was a bit of a whirlwind day and its funny how I commit so much to my brain only to immediately eject and dump it.
