Using Voice CommandWhenever you dog barks, say "No" in a clear, loud and short tone of voice. Make sure to have eye contact with your dog and put your hand out in front of you. This will get your dog to understand that you are speaking to him and that he's doing something wrong.

Use Reinforcements. After you've used your voice command and your dog stops barking, give him a treat. Also give your dog some type of affection when he does listen, such as petting him and nicely talking to him.

Use Punishments. On the flip side, if your dog continues to bark even after you've used voice command, find a spot and give your dog a time out. Try putting him in the basement or the garage because he will be by himself and it won't be any fun for him. When your dog disobeys and doesn't stop barking, don't say anything, just grab his collar and leash and chain him in the basement or garage and close the door behind you. Silence is important and after 5 minutes take him back into the house and put his leash away.

Consistency is the Key..just keep using punishments and reinforcements no matter what. Show your dog who's the boss. Your dog won't believe you if you're not consistent and he will think he's the boss. Eventually your dog will stop barking, it may take some time, but he will, so just be patient.
