Believe You Will Be Successful and You Will - Is This a Crock?

"Believe you will be successful and you will."

-- Dale Carnegie, motivational speaker

Really?

For the past couple decades I've had exposure to the teachings of "Think and Grow Rich" or "As a man thinks so he is" or as Mr. Dale Carnegie put it "Believe you will be successful and you will." and to be honest I used to have mixed feelings about that concept.

Maybe I was being lazy and didn't want to do the work required to change but I had this nagging doubt that believing I could be successful would really make that much difference if any at all.

A number of things have led to my believing considerably stronger this thought process actually does work.

1. Over the years I have identified many negative thought patterns and beliefs that were telling me things like; I don't deserve to be wealthy, I don't have what it takes to be wealthy, the world is against me, God wants me to be poor to keep me humble (that's a pile of you know what) and many more.

Upon analyzing these beliefs I slowly over time worked on dismissing them as I saw no benefit or value in continuing to hold them.

Interestingly enough as these negative beliefs slowly vanished I automatically began to believe the opposite in an ever-increasing capacity. It was like the void left by the negative was filled with the positive.

2. During this same time period I also continued to read books, listen to audio messages go to seminars and hang out with successful people and something that should have been abundantly obvious years ago suddenly hit me...

All the really successful people talk about the importance of what we believe and what thoughts we allow to control our minds.

If all the successful people say it's important and they are attributing their success to this fundamental truth, well than JUST MAYBE I need to do something about it in my life.

3. Five years ago I went through a very difficult time in my life and it caused me to reassess who I am and what I felt my life was all about. What this process did was reinforce my belief system to where I didn't just "think" I was a successful, fulfilled, caring and authentic person to where I "knew" I was this sort of person.

This transformed my life because prior to this time I sort of hoped I was right about who I was and therefore went along hoping things would work out and therefore I felt a lot of stress and anxiety as to whether it would happen or not.

But now that I more fully believed I was successful I came to a place of peace within myself knowing although the signs of success haven't shown up yet it was only a matter of time before they would.

I no longer looked to my life situations to see if I was successful, I just had to look within.

4. The more I began to absorb and believe this way of thinking the more I felt the strength of it's Truth and ultimately the more I saw it coming to fruition in my life.

We all know the phrase "seeing is believing" well I now think "knowing and trusting" is believing long before "seeing is believing".

When you don't really believe you will be successful it's like planting a seed you found on the ground and hoping it's an apple seed and someday you will be able to eat apples from the tree.

You can water the seed and even pull weeds but in the back of your mind there is always doubt as to what will transpire in the long run.

However if you "believe" and "know" you are planting an apple seed than you can be assured one day you will enjoy the fruit of your labors whether you see the fruit (yet) or not.

"Believe you will be successful and you will."
