The IRS, or the Internal Revenue Service is a government entity that's probably the most hated agency in all levels of the government. However, it's importance is nonetheless signified in so many publications. Taxes are the lifeblood of the government. Period. Without taxes, there will be no government. With no government, there will be no social security, police, social services, infrastructure, roads, ad infinitum. So, every time you pass by the Interstate, you should be glad that there is a government funded by the IRS that built that Interstate. All too commonly, people who are in dire straits have vented their financial frustration on the IRS. This should not be the case.
One could recall the recent quasi terroristic act perpetrated by a bankrupted software developer. He hated the IRS so much that he literally crashed his plane on its building. What this accomplished was simply a temporary blip on this big bureaucratic machine called the government. The plane may have burned some segments of the building, but in the end, the IRS along with all the other agencies of the government would continue to chug along as it should.
Even Jesus Christ showed some wisdom when it came to taxes, when he said in the Bible that we should give unto Caesar what is due to Caesar. Another famous anecdote when it comes to taxes is, there are only two things in life that a man cannot avoid: death and taxes.
In the end, paying the IRS is a responsibility that is carried by all. We might not like doing it, but we have to do it.
