E3000 Phone With Slide Out QWERTY Pros And Cons + Review
Here are some of the basic specs for the E3000.
It is GSM quad band, and carrier unlocked.
It is included with space for two SIM cards and allows dual standby.
It is constructed from normal Polycarbonate plastic.
IT comes with a TFT 3.2 inch screen at a resolution of 320x480.
The weight comes in at 140gm.
It measures in at L111xW51xH16mm.
Mobile internet is provided via EDGE/ GPRS/ WAP 2.0 and Wi-fi.
A 2.5mm earphone jack is built in.
The keyboard is a standard QWERTY design, and hides underneath the phone when not in use, and slides out when needed.
The battery life is standard at 46 to 60 hours of standby time.
It is java enabled, meaning it comes with java apps and games already preinstalled plus has the ability to install new ones.
A MP3/ MP4 player, a 1.9MP camera plus camcorder, an eBook reader, an analog TV, a Bluetooth receiver, and a FM radio are it primary media options.
Here are my thoughts on some good and bad points for the E3000.
Pros
The QWERTY board is very easy to slip out, and is well designed for tactile control.
When the QWERTY is slid out, the phone automatically adjusts to widescreen format.
The TFT screen displays quite well in light or in dark conditions and doesn't strain the eyes.
It comes with a large number of preinstalled and highly useful java apps such as Snaptu and Google Maps.
Wi-Fi was strong even when I knew that I was not very close to a hotspot.
The inclusion of a earphone jack that is not proprietary is very welcome.
Cons
Being 140 gm might be a bit too much for some people to want to lug.
Leaving the Wi-Fi on drains the batteries very fast.
TV reception was spotty at best for me.
Though the camera is 1.9MP, it still looks a little smudgy to me.
I would say that the E3000 is pretty good in terms of quality, and the QWERTY + touchscreen combination is done very well.
