If you have just started dieting it is important to set some achievable dieting goals.
A good target would be to lose 1lb or 2lbs per week over a period of three to six months.
If you have a menu or list of foods that you will eat for the following week this will help you.
Starting the day with grapefruit and then some oats with skimmed milk would be a good start.
Other good foods to include in your diet would be tuna or chicken for protein, hot peppers to speed up your metabolism and soup, because it has few calories, but helps you to feel full up.
Make sure you avoid sugary snacks and sugary drinks as these though tempting are high in calories. Its also good to avoid cheese and peanuts as these both have a lot of calories.
You will also lose weight if you can take more exercise.
If you do little exercise at the moment, you could just start walking more.
Instead of driving to the shops, try walking instead and use the stairs instead of a lift.
Swimming is also a good exercise for people that are just beginning their diet.
You cannot easily strain muscles and you burn a lot of calories as well.
Another good form of exercise is cycling. Try and find a route without too many hills until you have built up your strength.
Jogging and running are excellent forms of exercise, but you may need to build up your fitness levels before you attempt these.
As you progress through your first days of your diet, you may feel tired at first as you cut down on your intake of calories.
After a week you will soon start to get used to eating a little less and feel fitter and healthier too.
There is nothing quite as satisfying as you step on the scales after your first week of your diet and finding that you have lost one or two pounds in weigh!
This will definitely encourage you to stick with your diet and fitness regime to lose even more!
