IPad2 is going to make android tablets manufacturers more difficult
Apple has been released its iPad2 for a while now, it's lighter, thinner, equipped with faster CPU, much stronger graphic chips, also front and back camera. 16GB Wi-Fi version is only &499.
Insider point out that it's definitely a bad news for android tablets manufacturers. Motorola, Samsung and RIM they know iPad2's influence but they can' do nothing about it.
Motorola Xoom is the first android tablet that runs Android 3.0, similar configuration with iPad. Xoom has dual-core CPU, front and back camera, HDMI export port, a little bit heavier than iPad and iPad2, 3G version Xoom is $799. Motorola said it will choose a proper time to launch their Wi-Fi only model, but haven't published product officially. Motorola's Xoom is able to upgrade to 4G.
Well, at least Xoom is on the market, but many tablets that have been widely broadcast by media, for example, HP touchpad and RIM playbook still take a few months to launch. We don't know the advantages that they have compare to iPad2.
iPad has sold for almost a year now, and Apple's marketing machine has been fully running since then, even though other products are similar on configuration and functionality as Apple's iPad, if they don't have a big advantage on price, there's a long way to go. So far, Apple is still the market leader on tablets, and it's a long way ahead, last year it has 90% sales of total tablets market.
Tablets market is not PC market. In PC market, Windows is still the king, other PC manufacturers could make low price to weakening Apple's bright side.
Actually, currently tablets market is much alike MP3 player market. Apple's iPod has occupied a large market, Microsoft and Creative are in a tough battle with Apple.
Currently, 7 inch tablets has huge potential, if there's a lighter tablet with brilliant design and keep low price, it should be a big success.
