Boy this has stirred up quite a lot of people. I first heard about it from one of my family members. She asked me to check it out. I told her that there were too many unfulfilled prophecies for Christ to return.
First I would like to set anyone's heart at ease if they are wondering if this is a true prophecy. No, it is not. But how do I know? It all goes back to Matthew 24. Matthew 24 is the key to deciphering end time events.
Jesus' words in Matthew 24 tell us specifically to wait for the sign of the Son of Man. Most Christians think there is no specific sign associated with Jesus' return. I beg to differ. Jesus was explicit that the sign of the Son of Man must occur first before the trumpet was blown for the angels to gather those that were to remain alive until His coming.
The sign of the Son of Man is Three Days of Darkness! When the Scribes and Pharisees asked Jesus for a sign that He was the promised Messiah, He told them they would receive only one sign that He was indeed the promised Messiah.
He told them that as jonah was in the belly of the great fish three days and night, so He would be in the heart of the earth (grave) three days and nights. But there is something that people don't understand. Jesus declared Himself to be the light of the world.
So if He is the light of the world, then the light of the world went missing for three days as He lay in the grave. Now of course this was a spiritual darkness. But there is also a physical counterpart which is not spiritual. It is shown throughout the Scriptures.
Too much to explain here. But a link is added at the end of this blog. One more thing. The Scribes and Pharisees were specific.Theyasked Jesus for a sign from HEAVEN! Jesus is going to give them what they asked for. This is what Jesus called the sign of the Son of Man in Matthew 24:29-31.
Jesus told the Pharisees at His trial, that they would see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven. Other Scriptures tell us every eye shall see Him upon His return. This means there is only one return as Mattthew 24 tells us.
The Apostles asked Jesus for the sign of His coming not the sign of His comings (plural). Jesus answered them saying "Then shall they (the world of non-believers) see the sign of the Son of Man and then shall He send forth the angels to gather the elect (who remained alive until His one and only coming).
This is the sign Jesus told the Pharisees that they would receive. He was not speaking of His burial and resurrection alone. He was telling them that they would get exactly what they had asked for. Their kind would see the light of the HEAVENS extinguished for three days just before He returned.
God's children will have light at this time just as they did when He showed the sign to the Egyptians just before the exodus. Read my book: "Three Days of Darkness and the Coming Flood." There are sample chapters on the link at the end of this blog.
If you have doubts that what I am speaking is the truth, I would ask you one question. Did the Apostles know Jesus had to die and resurrect? Clearly the Scriptures tell us they had no clue this had to happen.
So then, they had absolutely no reason to ask Him for the sign of His return. They did not know He was going away. This means that it was the Holy Spirit putting this question into their mouths.
If it was the Holy Spirit who placed this question into their mouths, there is no intent to deceive. There is indeed only one sign of Jesus' return. He called it the sign of the Son of Man in Matthew 24. He said the sun, moon, and stars would cease to give their light!
Okay, He said the stars of heaven would fall to the earth. Don't spiritualize what is meant to be taken literally. Isaiah 13:12-13 tells us that the earth shall move out of her place. What would it look like to the inhabitants of this earth if the earth suddenly moved out of its orbit?
Would it not look as if the stars were falling? This is what Jesus was saying! He was telling us that the earth would move out of its orbit and fall away from all light sources in the universe. The sign of the Son of Man would occur. Three days of darkness!
This sign is meant to honor His death which lasted three days! Jesus the light of the world went missing for Three days. Let's get our theology straight. Enough being tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine!
