Thomas Craven - a regular police officer whose daughter was killed in the doorway of his house. The father decides to start its own investigation without assuming that the traces will lead him to corrupt the tops of power.
I eagerly awaited the film with the participation of such actors as Mel Gibson and director, taking off "Casino Royale". This movie had everything to become successful: a big budget, charismatic and an excellent player Mel Gibson, an excellent composer G. Shore. And all of this was disposed of filmmakers? And they did everything correctly.
At first, the plot develops very slowly starting to gain momentum by the middle of the movie. In general, the theme of revenge even though quite old, but it can always be present in new ways. Think of films such as " Law Abiding Citizen", with a very original plot and " Taken " with a killer car chases and gunfights. In " Edge of Darkness " no such chases and shootings, the plot twisted though, but not as strongly as expected. But a lot of policies that were manifestly excessive.
The film consists of the investigation, which Thomas holds not officially, because of his murdered daughter. During the investigation it has been more of a large corporation, which is desperately trying to conceal the real object of their activities. Maybe not original, but the film was presented in a very interesting way. And the film would be quite interesting if it were not for those most hidden moments in the investigation, paying attention to that notice, that all is not as simple as it would seem. Suffering Thomas is the first thing that we should pay attention. Gibson is a really terrific actor, who in any role can show you how to play.
And, of course, the confrontation between Thomas and the corporation. Although, in fact, it turns out that the entire corporation - this is nothing more than a politician, a couple of lawyers and a few people with weapons.
It has been nearly 8 years since the last film featuring Mel Gibson in the title role, and I do not take into account the film, with its sporadic participation. On the one hand I was expecting from Martin Campbell's thrilling blockbuster, but as a result saw a gunman with a simple but well-convoluted plot. This film is a sort of return to the big screen as an actor Mel Gibson, in the guise of his father, ready to avenge his child.
