The LG Cookie Fresh T300 - Affordable and Stylish

LG have done very well with the Cookie brand of phones. The first version was amongst the best low-cost full touchscreen handsets, and its success has paved the way for plenty of variations on the basic theme, merging a full touchscreen design with basic hardware with a stripped back operating system for a super-low price. Handsets like the LG Cookie Lite designed for buyers who want the styling and ease of use of a smartphone, but without the hefty price tag.

The LG Cookie Lite T300 is the newest handset to use the Cookie name, and stays true to previous phones by being a cheap full touchscreen phone, available in several attractive colours. The 2.4 inch touchscreen produces bright, sharp text and images with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The Cookie Lite T300 uses an attractive, cartoon-style interface, and offers numerous applications and widgets for messaging and social networking.

The LG Cookie Lite T300 is a capable portable media player, supporting mp3 audio and MPEG4 and H264 video, expandable memory via microSD and an FM RDS radio. The Cookie Lite T300 also includes a 1.3 megapixel camera and is able to record video as well as still images. The LG Cookie Lite T300 offers Bluetooth, GPRS and EDGE connectivity, plus physical connection to a PC via a standard micro USB cable.

Coming pre-installed on the LG Cookie Lite T300 are widgets for integrated access to social networking websites including Facebook, as well as an excellent web browser and a collection of standard applications such as a calculator, alarm clock and calendar. The Cookie Lite T300 offers support for handwriting recognition and users can download extra Java games to stay entertained.

LG knows it's market for the Cookie Lite, first time phone buyers with less disposable cash, looking for a stylish yet affordable handset that won't look too out of place in a world of touchscreen smartphones. Of course, the LG Cookie Lite is a long way from being a true smartphone. The lack of 3G and Wi-Fi prevent the T300 from being an excellent way to browse the internet on the move, the hardware is underpowered and the software is pretty basic once you get beyond the built-in apps.

None of this represents a serious problem, however, as the LG Cookie Lite is in competition against other budget handsets, not the smartphone crowd. As with the original Cookie, the new T300 edition stands out amongst the alternatives in offering a decent set of features at a super-low price, in a stylish handset design.
