My hubby and I have been blessed with three gorgeous children. They have many friends most of whom have pets such as rabbits, kittens and naturally dogs. You can guess what's coming next. The kids have been badgering us for some time now to buy them a puppy. I was a bit unsure but said I would maybe think about it.
I didn't intend to sound mean to the children when I said I would think about it, but they're not quite old enough to realise that a puppy can be hard work. However, space is not a problem. We have a lovely large house with gardens to the front and rear, plenty of room for a puppy to exercise and explore. Once the children were asleep, my husband and I did a little research online to see which breed would be most suitable.
We learned that Labradors are extremely docile and gentle with kids whereas Westies are often yappy and poodles are sometimes aggressive. We found a reputable website, had a look at all the cute puppies that were for sale and thought about choosing a Labrador pup. The website had articles of how to care for dogs and pups especially hygiene, which for us is very important having young children. It advised to check out the parents of the pup to make sure the breed is genuine and gave good advice of what food to feed it. Other articles covered were worming and vaccinations too.
After a long chat we definitely decided on buying a Labrador puppy. The kids were over the moon so the next day we went to a few pet shops. There were many pups for sale but no Labradors. We then tried animal rescue centres, again some beautiful dogs, but no Labrador pups. The kids were getting very upset so we promised we would all sit down together to have a look on the internet a little later on.
The internet is ideal to find out about different breeds of dogs including many other types of animals. You can even get a dog or a pup absolutely free as long as you are prepared to give them lots of love and a good home.
After a little more research we found various reputable websites selling puppies as well as buy and sell sites. Breeders and pet owners from all over the UK advertise puppies to be bought and sold online. There were so many beautiful little things to choose from, however we stuck to our guns until we found a Labrador pup.
We chose a Labrador pup because of their temperament and wonderful personality. They are apparently easy to train, alert and extremely obedient when older. Labradors are ideal around kids and are very protective of their owners.
We bought a beautiful black Labrador called Buster online who is now very much part of the family. The kids idolise him and he in turn loves them, we're all so happy.
