subject: How To Purchase Refurbished Laptops [print this page]

If you're looking to buy refurbished laptops, look no further than this article. The answer isn't hard to find out. By either buying straight from the manufacturer or from another approved vendor, you can get your "new" laptop into your home very quickly. The best possible way for you to find a refurbished computer is to simply go onto a search engine. By putting the manufacturer's name into the search box, you'll get a comprehensive listing of all of the laptops that are offered, both new and used. You can try this out by putting the name of the company in the search engine, followed by "used" or "refurbished." Once the search results load, you'll usually see the actual manufacturer at the top, followed by a long list of third-party companies who are more than willing to sell you used models. If money is tight, a refurbished laptop is probably your best bet.

What you should remember, however, is that many of these "gently used" laptops don't come with warranties. While new models don't always come with warranties either, used models only rarely come with them. The only time you may actually see one is if you buy a "certified" pre-owned model (think of how you bought your car!). In order to actually get a warranty for a computer bought from another company, you may need to pay even more than if you just were to get it from the dealer itself. Clear as mud? Good!

Online auction sites are often treasure troves for good deals. I will give one warning, however: These almost never come with warranties, and there is absolutely no guarantee that the laptop has actually been checked over with a fine-toothed comb like you'd expect from a large company's offering. If you were to come up and ask me today, I'd recommend shying away from online auction sites if you're actually looking for a laptop that you plan on keeping for a long time or for business purposes. If I were looking for something for playing games at home, I might be more inclined to search these sites. It all comes down to risk vs. reward. Are you willing to risk getting a lemon just to get a good deal? The choice is yours.

All in all, you can't go wrong by buying directly from the laptop manufacturer of your choosing. I guarantee that if you follow this advice you'll be on a fast track to buying great refurbished laptops.
