As one common bearing type, the ball bearing is not strange to us. It is a bearing consisting of a number of hard steel balls rolling between a metal sleeve fitted over the rotating shaft and an outer sleeve held in the bearing housing, so reducing friction between moving parts while providing support for the shaft. It is used in a wide variety of machines and other devices, allowing parts of them to spin freely and without friction.

Ball bearings can be commonly used in machinery industry and in wheels of vehicles like cars, buses and motorcycles. Based on the working speed and the load they bear, the life span of ball bearings is calculated. Generally speaking, ball bearings can last a long time, but the actual lifespan should be based on the usage, the pressure they get, and the maintenance measures. Therefore, they may also run into problems because of improper use, extreme vibrations and improper upkeep, etc.

Ball bearing problems may be various. However, some of them are common among all the different types of ball bearings. The first one is the noise. They can be very noisy within a device or machine, which can be distracting within a work place or relatively serene environment. This may limit where certain machines or devices may be installed.

The second one is the corrosion. It is common that most of mechanical part can be corroded. Because most of ball bearing products are made from steel or metal, excessive moisture or exposure to water can lead to corrode, rust, break down and even fall apart. It is worse that the corrosion may sometimes break or jam the device or machine they are inside.

The third one is the vibration vulnerability. We all know that ball bearing on the machines have to move or spin very quickly, as a result, they are prone to constant shaking and vibration which may further dislodge and fall into different moving parts of the machine, causing damage that may break other moving parts.

The last but not the least one is the failed lubrication. Lubrication is the necessary part for the maintenance of ball bearings. In order to move against the metal device more smoothly and fluidly, they are often lubricated. However, sometimes the lubrication may gather around the ball bearings and cause them to jam against each other which will cause the device or machine to fail or even stop working.

All the above mentioned problems may happen if you do not take care of your bearing products. Therefore, if you want to avoid those problems and keep the proper performance of your ball bearings, you should do take measures to maintain them.
