My Key Words for IM
My Key Words for IM

Finally, after a few months, and enough wading to exhaust me, I decided to try to boil everything down to its essence. I wanted to write about what makes up that field we call "internet marketing."

Here's what I've developed. It's a simple list that can be used by anyone to guide oneself through the IM process from beginning to successful website.

Overview - initial work to research the field, determine if it fits, and gain a little perspective.

Niche Development - research to determine a niche that works. This can include an area of focus for affiliate marketing.

Affiliate Marketing - choosing good selling, well priced items to sell on one's own site, usually working through ClickBank or another affiliate network.

Key Word Search - research to choose key words that relate to the IM content, which are targeted enough to be unique, but used enough to be a known success.

Website Development - process of building one's website or blog, to include pages and posts, graphics, links, pictures and other items to make for a graphically pleasing, content rich site.

SEO Optimization - activities to place the site's URL with directories, and to promote the site so that it places well, and thus receives more traffic.

Article Marketing - writing articles about topics covered in your site. Placing articles so that they generate more traffic to the site.

Managing Site Visitors - this includes creating an offer for a valuable item for free, and auto responder that lets people "opt in" to the site list and network. Then, emails are sent to list members in a certain order, providing free downloads and information, and making an affiliate offer. This is often called the conversion process - converting visitors to customers, and using this sales funnel as a way to do so.

I find that when I keep my focus on this list, I am better focused and can accomplish more. This list isn't exhaustive, but I believe that some of the important areas of internet marketing are covered.
