In this post I want to share 5 blog marketing tips that will help you burn your blog and/or brand into the minds of your readers and the only thing they cost is your time.
They will appeal more to authority bloggers looking for ways to raise their online profile and get noticed and they are all proven techniques that work.
Write free reports/white papers/eguides
Write and give away free content in the form of reports/guides. Nothing shouts authority more than being able to express yourself in written reports. If you have been blogging for a while you can take a few of your best linkbait posts, add an introduction and summary and you are done.
I recommend you give your report a graphic image too because it can help to add that professional look.
You can ask people to register to receive them or you can simply add them to your blog to be downloaded (or a combination of both)
If you want to turn it into a report with the potential to make you money you might want to mention a relevant affiliate product and then add it to the many free ebook sites out there on the web. Really it all depends on why you are writing the report and what message you want it to convey.
Run webinars, teleseminars and other free online events
If you want to promote a training event or product launch running a series of free webinars/teleseminars is still a great way to get orders coming in. You may do these as a one off or run them on a regular basis.
Take the replay and use it as blog content, add it to your paid membership site or sell it for a while. Replays become great content to help with your blog promotion and will bring in traffic for you - especially if you manage to interview someone who is respected and well known in your niche.
Speak at events
Offline networking groups are always looking for professionals to speak and there are some great opportunities out there to bring "foot traffic" to your blog, Being invited to speak makes you the authority and people will want to ask you questions after the event.
You will also be able to use these speaking events as blog content by reporting back on what happened and hopefully if there are any bloggers in the crowd they may even blog about you and the great talk you gave.
Run a forum or social network
Nothing helps burn your blog and your brand into the minds of people like running your own forum or social network. Many people opted for running groups on social platforms like Facebook and they can work too but they go quiet very quickly.
When you run a forum or social network that has plenty of activity it not only helps you build a list of names/emails but if gives you a space where you can openly engage people in conversation and share your expertise.
The thing about running these types of online sites is this - they are time consuming and take four times as much effort from you than any one else. Eventually, you may be able to leave the community to help you grow and to add user generated content but ultimately it is your responsibility to keep it going.
Run your own internet radio show or podcast
Although many people abandoned audio for video both can be used in your quest to generate traffic to your blog. Using sites like BlogTalkRadio to run live radio shows offer an opportunity for you to get known in your industry if you can create a show that is entertaining enough for people to want to tune in every week. You can also create audio that you add to your blog and make that a regular part of your blog content strategy or of course you can set up your own "TV"show by making regular videos.
The key to using this blog marketing strategy is consistency - something I never really managed. I love to create audio and video but if I know I have to create one every week suddenly the fun of it disappears and it becomes a chore - and ultimately I am online for the freedom.
But that's just me!smiley
If you can maintain that consistency there are a number of major benefits to using this technique that include being able to build a following, who will share your shows with friends and help increase your readership.
These 5 blog marketing tips ultimately lead to you generating traffic and they will play a big part in your content development strategy. Remember too that repurposing all this content will help you to continually generate new content. Your video can become an audio, your blog post can become a video - use what you have to develop different formats.
Do you use an advanced method I haven't mentioned?
