This article tells you exactly how to create ananchor text signature link, and why you want to. One of the simplest yet most powerful skills you can use to build your business's presence on the internet is the practice ofanchor text backlinking. So what is a backlink?
Think of the internet as a vast ocean, sprinkled with millions of little islands. Now your island may be the most beautiful, the most exciting, and the most valuable island in the world. But if there are no shipping lanes to your island, you will never have a visitor. Without these pathways, no matter how valuable your island is, you will remain isolated.
A backlink is a shipping lane between other islands and yours. And a very easy backlink is the anchor text signature link.
Creating an anchor text signature is "plug and chug." You use the same format each time, plugging in your specific URLs (web page addresses) and chosen anchor text words, which must be keywords.
We will not go into keywords yet, but quickly, these are the words people type into Google to find what they are looking for. So they must describe what your page is about so people can find you. How to find those keywords is a vast subject, and will be covered in later articles.
Here is the basic format for ananchor text link. This is HTML code - the coded text written to tell your browser how to display all those beautiful web pages.
IT IS ESSENTIAL!!! that it be written exactly as you see it here.
Even an extra space, or a comma instead of a period will "break the code." That's what I mean by plug and chug. As far as the code goes, there are no decisions to make or any leeway at all for a beginner. After showing you the code, I will make suggestions for how and when to use it.
Here is the basic anchor text code (not real domain names) you would use to link to your site, using the keywords, This Is My Website.
This Is My Website
And that's it! You will copy this and substitute your URL and keywords.
Note all the symbols. Every one is essential and any change will cause it to fail. Note my keyword text Build My Web Business is enclosed in the greater than and less than symbols. This tells a browser to display only those keywords, as a link, but hidden inside those keywords is the link to the page I wrote into the code.
It will display on the webpage like this:This Is My Website and be colored text, usually blue.
When you write your own anchor text code, very carefully paste the URL you want to link to,within the quotation marks, and be sure you end your URL with /. Then BETWEEN THE GREATER THAN AND LESS THAN SYMBOLS, type the words you want your reader to see.

Why and How to Use An Anchor Text Signature Link
I strongly urge you to develop the habit of posting helpful and relevant comments on websites, blogs and forums related to your site's subject. This is honest, "white hat"backlinking! Many sites will allow you to add a signature with an anchor text link included.
Get to know your Windows program Notepad, or any program for writing.txt files. Write up several anchor text signature links and save them. Then when you sign your name you can copy from your signature file, and paste it after your signature.
Here is an example of signature someone could use after they comment.
Abraham Lincoln from Kentucky.
What is displayed is: Abraham Lincoln fromKentucky.
Now he has a nice "backlink" to his website. Google will read this as a shipping lane, knows the site is there, and maps a connection between the sites. Hope this clears up any confusion abouthow to create an anchor text signature link. If the article directory has taken out the code, you are welcome to see exactly what it looks like on my website, linked below.
