The most primordial cornerstone in Islam, the first pillar, as it is in Judaism and Christianity, is God is, He is one and only, He is eternal, He begets none and is not begotten, He is indivisible (does not accept the doctrine of Trinity), unique and All Mighty, All creator: humans ought to worship Him and only Him.

Islam gives the free option but to believe in God or disbelieve in Him.
Therefore, Islam confines the entire responsibility of such a free choice to the individual person himself. Man, or woman, is charged with the task of worship of God and has the responsibility for his compliance or rejection.
Man has one life to proof himself as a worshipper of God and only God. He has a sufficient life span to respond favorably, or unfavorably, to the call.
The Islam designates a Day of Judgment where every human being shall be brought to account for his or her own response to the divine message. On such a day God shall hold everyone responsible for his or her own response.
If a man responds favorably to the message of God and believes in and worships God and the day of judgment, he is promised to be rewarded with eternal felicity in a paradise. If not the consequences are that he would be punished in an ever lasting Hell Fire to abide therein.
The message is clear, direct, simple and unambiguous. It is either or. No third party is concerned for it is either black or white. You either belong to the group of those who believe or belong to the group that disbelieves. It is up to you.
In this way, Islam makes the individual person savior of his or her own self. No other person or thing, as in Christianity, would be able to save you. Only your own response and deeds will merit you felicity.
Any one who does not comply by the divine message will have to suffer the consequences. Any person who denies the message shall have the same Hell to go to, any individual who takes other things as objects of worship besides God shall be thrown in hell Fire.
No mercy for those who do not worship God, believe in Him and serve Him. No mercy for anyone who takes other things as idols and worship them.
