Dangerous J's - Three Sly Success Barriers

You probably arrived here out of curiosity. You are wondering what in the world are Dangerous J's. The letter J plays a very significant role in success barriers. It represents three of the most destructive behaviors that cause more people to fail in their home based business than any other success barriers. They are jealousy, judgment, and justification. So even if you are here just out of curiosity, this may be exactly the message you need to hear today.

Most likely you are thinking to yourself that these are not your success barriers. Before you check out and dismiss this idea, I challenge you to take a serious look at each of these areas. Why? Jealousy, judgment, and justification are not always obvious and can be quite subjective.

Common Success Barriers Jealousy, Judgment, Justification

Jealousy

If you have ever thought or spoken any of the following, you have a problem with jealousy:

Why do they seem to get all the recognition?

Why are they always getting the credit?

What's so special about them?

They must be doing something unethical to get those results.

I work harder than they do.

I wish I had their business.

It's easy for them to say

If they were in my shoes...

I wish I had their skills.

If you have ever tried to poke holes in someone else's business, success, testimony, or tried to discredit them in any way, jealousy is one of your success barriers. If you have ever wanted something that someone else has,you are plagued by jealousy. Jealousy can ruin your chance at success because you end up spending more time worrying about what other people are doing or not doing, than working your business the way you should. It leads you to focus on what you don't have, rather than what you do have. This leads to an impoverished mentality rather than thinking abundantly. Since your mind sets the course for your action, you wind up doing all the wrong things instead of the right things.

Not only do you lose precious productive time, but you essentially speak death over your own success. It is the basic concept of sowing and reaping. If you sow into jealousy, you will reap jealousy upon yourself. It becomes planted in your subconscious mind. Since youdon't want to be like that person, you are really setting the course for failure for yourself. After all, you don't want people looking at you and thinking you don't deserve everything you have. It is rarely a conscious decision to fail, but rather your subconscious mind creating your success barriers.

Judgment

Even the most judgmental person you know doesn't think they are. I remember thinking the same way. I couldn't possibly be judgmental because I had so much empathy for others. That is until I learned the truth about judgment, and further learned it is one of the deadliest success barriers. Judgment looks something like this. You see an extremely fit and toned person. The woman or man appears to be a perfect size, sporting the physique of a professional athlete. You assume this person must be obsessed with their body. They must spend every day at the gym and starve them self. They must be vain. You see another person who is extremely overweight or even obese. You automatically think they must eat a ton of unhealthy food. They must be lazy. A lady pulls into the parking space next to you driving a brand new Mercedes and sporting the biggest diamond ring you've ever seen. She's probably married to a very wealthy man. They must be all caught up in greed.

The truth is, you don't know anything about any of these people, and you are making an assumption. You are judging them before you've met them. How do you know the wealthy woman next to you isn't a self made millionaire, living on 25% of her income and giving 75% away?

Why is judgment the worst of the success barriers? Just like jealousy, you train your brain to fail. Unlike jealousy though, judgment happens in an instant and most often goes undetected. The more you judge, the more you feed your subconscious mind the negative results of success. It is like speaking a curse over your future. If you have judged the wealthy, you can never become wealthy. You have already told your mind that wealth is negative. In your mind wealth is greed. If you desire to become fit, but you have spoke ill of people who have the type of body you want, you will never achieve that goal. A fit body equals vanity in your subconscious mind.

Justification

Justification is the trickiest of the success barriers. Even now you may be justifying why you have been judgmental of others. Perhaps you are contributing it to the way you were raised. You heard your parents say things like "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer" therefore your judgment is a learned behavior. Justification is a basic defense strategy allowing you to free yourself of taking any responsibility. When people fail in a home business, rarely is it their fault. You often times hear people place blame on the company. Their leader didn't train them. The company didn't provide support. The product didn't sell itself like they said it did. There was too much competition. Instead of saying they didn't do the work, it is easier to say the business just doesn't work.

Pay particular attention to justification, because it is the most accepted of the success barriers. It doesn't just appear suddenly, it begins more gradually. It starts with one little excuse, and since nobody called you out on it, it makes it easier for the next time. Before you know it, one excuse turns into thirty. It won't be long before you stop doing anything for your business altogether. Which leads to the biggest justification of all it's okay, at least you tried.

Overcoming Success Barriers

First of all, you need to identifyyour success barriersas they occur in order to stop them. If you truly want to succeed it starts with admitting your success barriers. You can only overcome success barriers by acknowledging them, and redirecting your thinking. The best way to change bad habits is to replace them with good habits. When jealousy begins to creep in, write in a gratitude journal and focus on all the positive things in your life. When you notice you're making assumptions about people, decide to speak to them instead, and ask them about what they do. You might be surprised by what you learn. When you catch yourself wanting to make an excuse, be real with yourself and admit your mistake. Nobody is perfect, we all make mistakes. It is what you do after you learn from those mistakes that matters. Success barriers can only be barriers as long as you let them.
