Swimming, cycling, walking, rollerskating and even dancing the night away will work your heart to a much healthier state of being. Time rather than intensity would be advised, this may go against some schools of thought but never the less the far superior way to succeed. Getting the body used to larger workouts and a sensible pace will reap larger benefits in the long run. Intensity will follow and be relative to your current levels of recuperation rather than a violent expenditure of energy that may cause serious damage that will have you sidelined indefinitely. Stick with these tried and tested methods as the best way to getting fit.
