When it comes to dealing with procrastionating. I have tried several method over sometime. I have fond these to be the most effective. If you have problems with procrastination. Why not gives this ideas a try ?
1.Three to Five Method
This is a method created by Alan Lakein. Ask yourself this question."What are three to five things I could do to progress toward the final objective without actually taking the project head on."Then initiates these "easy entries" activities. Most of the time, it is enough to get your motor running.
2.Power Of Deadline
Deadline enable us gather our resources and focus towards accomplishing what might not otherwise ever get done.
3.Minimize Distraction
Sometimes we procrastinate on a project because we anticipate interruption. To really focus on doing you task at hand you may have to "escape" from everyday events. Place your calls on hold, Do not accept visitors or forgo constantly checking emails. These distraction could be reasons for your procrastination. Eliminate them to give yourself some uninterrupted time.
4.Acceptance
There is a difference between wanting to start on working a project and deciding to start. A change in language can make the difference in how you approach a project. What you "should do" is not nearly as exciting as something you will "be happy" to do. Likewise when we decide or choose to start a project liberates you when you don't necessarily "fancy" to start all.
5.Stop being "In the mood"
When you have things to be done, you have to do it. There is no perfect mood for working on anything. Muster the impetus to start and you probably do fine. Wether or not your are in the mood will soon become irrelevant. Taking action is invigorating, so your mood will change positively any way. So go ahead, get that project started.
6.Just One Thing
When we juggle between tasks, sometimes we end up playing a subtle game of procrastination with ourseleves wherein we are actually avoiding that one key task among many that we have to finish. The best way to do it is to work on one task at a time. Once you are done. Move on to the next one.
7.Get a Contract
Select three to five major activities you want to do. Create a contract and sign a it with yourself. A contract takes precedence over everything else. Once you are under contract, you are obliged to finish your work stated in the contract or face the consequences of defaulting.
8.Self Talks
Most of our internal conversation with ourselves are focus on our short coming. We say things like"Oh, I should have done this" or "I am stupid, I cannot seem to do this thing right." Change the message. Pepper your words with some positive message. It works well when it comes to overcoming procrastination.
9.Create a Reward System
If you are working on a unpleasant task. It makes sense to following up with something you enjoy after you complete your work. In other word. If you don't complete your task at task you don't get to enjoy.
