If you work out, you probably have your own reasons why you do it. Having a slim and sexy body is one of them and is perfectly legal. Those of you who don't work out are maybe perfectly satisfied with the way you look, and getting ripped has never been one of your main objectives in life. If you are still searching for motivation to get to a gym, maybe this article will help you get motivated.
The first and foremost reason to work out should be your health.
Physical inactivity is deemed as a global public health problem by the World Health Organization. More than 60% of the world's population, primarily in developed countries, fails to complete the recommended amount of physical activity required to induce health benefits. There are many reasons for this, but the most common ones are sedentary way of life during occupational, domestic, and even leisure activities.
The importance of physical inactivity is often not properly communicated. Lack of physical activity leads to being physically unfit, we all know that. But what means to be physically fit then? Our fitness level can be evaluated through one of these 5 factors:
Cardiorespiratory endurance
Muscular strength
Muscular endurance
Body composition
Flexibility
It is these five levels that measure how fit we are. Each of these levels has effect on many different health areas so just being slim does not mean we are fit.
Research has revealed that the risk of death is higher for the group of population being physically unfit than the obese group. Cardiovascular diseases that are related to physical fitness could be prevented in more than 16% of population only by increasing the physical activity level and improving overall fitness. In contrast, less than 4% of deaths could be prevented in obese population by eliminating the obese factor with losing weight.
Hypertension or high blood pressure is another factor that, if it had been successfully excluded, could save 14% of lives from the monitored population. While the hypertension causes are not directly related to the fitness level, regular physical activity can reduce the risk of developing hypertension because it helps in regulating blood pressure.
Now you see that being physically active does not only have the benefit of being slim, toned and sexy looking. Physical activity improves the overall quality and longevity of life.
How much of physical activity is enough?
If you care about yourself, you will start some sort of physical activity. You don't have to conquer the mountains! Activities like walking, swimming, cycling and low-intensity aerobics are good to start with. In as little as 30 minutes per day, you will see great improvements to your health.
