The melting of the snow is coming fast in Lapland and the temperatures are in double figures during the day, although it is still quite cold during the evening time. The weather has warmed up considerably earlier this year which can sometimes mean that a blast from winter may occur a couple of weeks into spring. Much the same as the U,K Lapland can experience strange weather conditions and earlier than normal seasons are not uncommon.
The snow is melting fast at the moment and the lakes and rivers are fast starting to move again, the pictures you can capture and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking at this time of year but the locals will not accept that spring has arrived for a good few weeks yet.
The rivers make beautiful patterns as the snow and ice cling on in certain areas and free flowing water ripples around these little ice islands. The bears have awoken from their long sleep and are playfully running around; the sky is blue as the dark days and nights finally leave for a while.
Spring may be well on its way but the snow has not yet gone and the locals and holidaymakers are still enjoying the skiing and cross country skiing. Many long cross country trails are still taking place and the slopes are still very much full of eager skiers.
In Lapland when spring arrives the snow begins to fall rapidly, some locals may wake to find huge snow mounds outside of their homes and places of work, this is just another hazard of living in Lapland but a funny one.
Spring will continue to emerge and the days will gradually get warmer, the birds will begin to sing and the many wildlife will spring into life. The Husky dogs will spend long lazy days in the sun and have a well earned rest and the bears will enjoy their new found freedom. The temperatures will rise and Lapland will experience some very warm temperatures in the summer months. The snow will be nowhere to be seen and the fresh smell of cut grass drifts from the local's garden. The locals and the few holidaymakers will be outdoors on bikes and walking in the beautiful Lapland countryside.
