Electrical Engineer Resume Example - How To Spot A Dud

How to tell if the example resume you're looking at is a dud

Copying an example Electrical Engineer Resume is a sure fire way for you to reduce the time it takes to submit an application for jobs. However there are a few things you should check over before rushing ahead and blindly copying the template you've downloaded.

Colour

One of the best ways to tell of a resume template is a good example is to see if it grabs your attention with its design. As electrical engineer's aren't web designers you don't want a resume to have huge amounts of colour or finely drawn graphics, but you do want something with a splash of modern colour to highlight different sections. A splash of colour makes the resume more modern in look and feel.

White Space

Ensure that you check that your template uses white space. White space makes your resume better to digest and looks cleaner than the usual cluttered, busy, text heavy resume. You don't want to over use white space so that your resume looks plain, or something from the first word processor in the 80s

Fonts

No one ever thinks of something as simple as a font, however when you're reviewing resumes on a grand scale a rubbish font that stands out could spell disaster!

Is the font easily legible? If your template has tight small fonts consider how hard this would be for anybody to scan! Select an easy to read find like Arial and ensure it's consistent throughout the whole resume.

The First Page

Take a look at the first page of your template resume, does it contain the following:

- A section where you can highlight the most important information about your career

- Does it have a section for your name, current position and company?

- Does it use large text to grab the reader's attention immediately?

- Does it look modern with white space and clean presentation?

If resume is even missing some of these things your setting yourself up for disappointment.

In fact you could actually hurt your chances in getting a call from a recruiter for an interview.
