Green Building Technologies

Only with the integrated in design approach can we develop high performance buildings at affordable prices. Green building technologies is nothing more than a building that is built from reusable materials and other materials that make the building efficient and environmentally friendly.

Furthermore, green building technologies allows us to understand that, building a building that takes advantage of the sun's location, and is using the latest insulation technology along with the latest window designs should be commonplace. This is not the case.

While understanding what green technology is, it has not caught on and has only begun to get more popular in the recent years. There are several factors to consider when thinking about green building technology. Insulation is a major factor; it is a known fact that insulation plays a major role in building performance. Containing energy in any building can only be done through proper insulation of the ceiling and walls. After all, without proper installation during the summer months all of the air conditioning will leak out, and during the winter months all of the heat will leak out. This causes our devices to work harder while giving less performance.

If the installation is properly installed in a building the larger sized heating and cooling systems can be greatly decreased saving costs, but at the same time maintaining a comfort level for the inhabitants or tenants. Larger heating and cooling systems cost significantly more, work harder, and waste energy, therefore are not environmentally friendly. In this way proving that proper installation is the key point of green building technologies.

Understanding the ventilation system in the integration in design approach has to be taken into consideration. With understanding how air flows inside the building will help in the designer's ability to design the building to provide maximum circulation which will properly allow optimal comfort for people living or working inside. It is important also to understand that while working on the circulation we also have to understand indoor air quality. The quality of the air is important and installing a state-of-the-art indoor air filtration system will round out the ventilation and air quality design.

Green building technologies also encompass using water resources in the form of rainwater and grey water in storage tanks to be used for flushing toilets or watering plants. Also the invention of waterless technology is becoming more and more popular and in some cases will be used in green building technology. So the preservation of water is as important in shrinking the environmental footprint.

Renewable energy is also important with solar energy topping the list, solar energy can be used for many different things for instance electricity, heating water and cooling water. It is important to understand that in order to use this technology, the proper placement of our green building is important.

And we cannot forget geothermal technologies or geothermal applications in the form of heat exchange systems. These heat exchange systems can effectively heat the building in the winter and cool the building in the summer.

In summary, green building technologies saves money and reduces our need for expendable energy, giving us the ability to decrease our energy consumption and decrease our negative impact on the environment.
