Acrylic has been used in medicine now for a number of years. It is common in bone surgery, again I suspect that this is because of how easily the material can be shaped and made to fit unique shapes of broken bones. Acrylic is used throughout medicine in all areas. It is used in many types of surgery and it even makes the equipment used in surgery. Acrylic is also used in contact lenses, dentures and braces. In the war it was discovered that acrylic wasn't always rejected by the body and didn't cause infection, this was a great break through and has helped millions of people. Pilots would often be found with acrylic and glass pieces embedded in their eyes, it was noticed that the pilots with the glass in their eyes would become infected and the body would try to reject it and the pilots with the acrylic in their eyes wouldn't get an infection as the body wouldn't try to reject it.
Acrylic is also used for business and entertainment purposes. Acrylic domes are usually used to present information for presentations and even shows. The domes can display colours, logos, pictures and text, perfect if you really want to catch the eye of potential clients. Acrylic can be used to make all types of things and many things are already made from acrylic, there was one good acrylic company who made the first acrylic staircase. So it just shows the possibilities of acrylic.
