Horizon BCBSNJ (blue cross blue shield of NJ) is nothing but a not-for-profit corporation, which has its headquarters in Newark, NJ. It is the largest health insurer state. This organization was founded in the year 1932, with its main goal is to provide convenient access to good quality healthcare, for the employees and individuals in New Jersey, no matter wherever they work or live. Horizon BCBSNJ is the only association that is licensed by blue shield and blue cross association plan in the New Jersey, which is providing health insurance coverage to more than 3.2 million people all over the central, south and north New Jersey. It has 15-member BOD, which run the business for its members. This association is well known for providing traditional indemnity plans and managed care to their employers and individuals.
Most of the health insurances allow coverage for until certain age of the dependent. In case of horizon BCBSNJ, the coverage is allowed until the age 23, when the dependent reaches the age 23, the coverage will not be provided. However, the chapter 375 implementation results in extending the age level to 30 years. Till at the age of 30, the coverage will be provided as per new mandate. Even though there are some restrictions and limitations in the new mandate, but many dependent feel happy with these new mandate, who was not able to provide health coverage plan for themselves. has no dependent of her/his own
is either belonging to the new jersey or must be enrolled as full-time student in any accredited private or public institution and he/she must not be covered under individual health benefit plan or any other group.
The horizon BCBSNJ consists of two data centers such as one at Newark, New Jersey while another one at Monmouth country, New Jersey. Both the data centers of BCBSNJ are connected by means of multiple data links. The data centers environment look like cluster, which has its passive node in the Monmouth, while the secondary node in the Newark and vice versa. Both the centers are responsible for running the applications between the Win Tel environment and mainframe environment at any point of time.
