Being a new husky owner it's not always obvious how to train your little bundle of love. What once seemed to be a cute furball is now causing problems. I'm going to cover 7 tips that all husky dog owners that take advantage of to train their puppies the way they're meant to be trained. After all, your husky does not know what you expect of him, so how can you even think about punishing someone in that position?Training dogs isn't rocket science. All you have to do is start thinking like your dog.Similar to the average first grade kids these days who have the attention span of about 6 seconds, dogs have a short term memory span of about the same. So what exactly does that mean? It means if you punish your puppy 5 minutes after he peed on the floor, he will not understand why. If you yell at your puppy 1 minute after he spilled something, he will not understand why.Your dog has a memory span of just a few seconds. This is why all of your training should be based on that understanding. Negative reinforcement should not be your training method. Positive reinforcement works miracles if you do it correctly. So here are some pointers to training your husky dog.1) Positive Reinforcement - This method works great for any type of training. Simply give your puppy a command and after he successfully does it provide lots of praise and a delicious treat. This way the puppy will learn that after he hears the command and does a certain action the owner is happy and he gets a treat.2) Consistency - How many crunches do you have to do until you see some results in your abdomin? Five? Ten? I don't think so. Keep consistent with your training and don't give up. Some puppies learn quicker, some slower, but it's all about patience and persistency.3) Enthusiasm - Be enthusiastic when you have training sessions with your puppy. It's been proven to increase their performance. If you're going to be enthusiastic it's going to reflect on your puppy because they can read your face very well.4) Location - Find a nice quiet place where your puppy will not get distracted. Perhaps go to the park where there aren't many people or cars. If your puppy gets distracted you will find that training can become impossible.5) Take breaks - Your puppy will get distracted, uncomfortable, confused. If you see that your puppy does't want to keep going then take a break. If your puppy isn't enjoying training then stop and do it later.Get more Siberian husky training tips.
