subject: Who takes whose credit in corporate? [print this page] Who takes whose credit in corporate? Who takes whose credit in corporate?
Food snatchers in corporate is possible? Many occasions, the employees in the lower levels and managers cry in the organization that their ideas and their creativities are stolen by their superiors. They cry helplessly.
When hierarchy is strong and largely the organizations are controlled by a single man leadership, food snatchers can easily evolve. The snatching behaviour in man is co-evolved with man. The very idea of discussing about food snatchers in corporate is purely because corporate is assumed to be very cultured and well organized work place where people tend to spent more than 8-10 hr per day of their life.
We should understand that stealing the credit of others is very common in animal world. In a pride of lion, generally the lioness will hunt the prey, but only after lion's share is offered, she can eat her meal. Exploitation of the weak by the stronger ones is the way of life in animal world. When the pack of hyena out numbers the pride of lions, hyena snatches the food from lion.
Even snatching the wife of other animal is also common in animal world. In the animal world, the snatching behaviour is largely limited to food only. The major business of animals in their life is good gathering. Snatching of the mate cannot be taken as an example as it has great biological reason. Animals need to produce their next generation in a stronger way and only the stronger one produce the stronger offspring. Hence, only the dominant alone is blessed to have a married life animal society.
In a corporate, always it is possible that the immediate seniors/functional heads may steal or grab the ides or creativeness of the juniors and would project it as theirs. Smart managers or functional heads would use the word that I advised her/him to do this project and I really appreciate her/him for successfully doing the project.
When food is the very basic existential need for animals in forest, retaining the job and enjoys the recognition of doing a great job is the existential need of people in corporate. Weaker one would surrender and submit and wait for their time to eat what is left over. But the stronger one would move to the new territory and that is what is the most common cause for employees leaving the organization resulting in attrition.
The competition and challenges are many for an employee to exist in corporate and is almost similar to the life of animals in a jungle.
The one up man dominated organization will be the nature ecosystem where the food snatchers' thrive.
