Quality of life !
Quality of life !

I want to say thanks again to all readers for e-mails and prestige to the articles "Forms of Domination Subconscious, How in the World Poverty Eradication and Secrets of the Mind of Man" mainly because they are among one of the most read on this site and are being played by many others.

I believe this is due to the concept of writing them, aiming to develop itself and the social factor, which I believe are one of the greatest desires of people in our day. Now I'll share a few words in that article as having quality of life and what aspects need to be taken into account that it may exist.

The term quality of life was first used by U.S. president Lyndon Johnson in 1964 declaring that "the goals can not be measured by the balance sheet of banks. They can only be measured by the quality of life that give people .

The interest in such concepts as "standard of living" and "quality of life" was initially shared by social scientists, philosophers and politicians. The increasing technological development of medicine and related sciences as a negative consequence brought their progressive dehumanization.

Thus, the concern with the concept of "quality of life" refers to a movement within the humanities and biological parameters in order to value broader than symptom control, reduced mortality or increased life expectancy.

Thus, assessment of quality of life was added in randomized clinical trials as a third dimension to be assessed, in addition to efficacy (disease modifying effect of the drug) and safety (adverse drug reaction) (BECH, 1995).

Oncology is the specialty which, of course, was faced with the need to assess the conditions of life of patients who had their survival increased with the proposed treatments (KATSCNIG, 1997), since often in the quest to add "years to life "was left out of the need to add" life to years. "

The term quality of life as it is being applied in the medical literature does not seem to have a single meaning (Gill and Feinstein, 1994). "Health Conditions", "social functioning" and "quality of life" have they been used as synonyms (Guyatt et al.)

And the very definition of quality of life does not appear in most articles that use or propose tools for its evaluation (GILL and FEINSTEIN, 1994). Quality of life related to health ("Health-related quality of life") and subjective state of health ("Subjective health status) are related concepts focused on the subjective evaluation of the patient but necessarily related to the impact health status on an individual's ability to live fully.

Bullinger et al. (1993) consider that the term quality of life is more general and includes a variety of potential major conditions that can affect an individual's perception, feelings and behaviors with their daily operations, including but not limited to his health condition and medical interventions.

Instruments to Measure Quality of Life

There have been over the last decade a proliferation of instruments for assessing quality of life and the like, with a growing interest in translating them for use in other cultures. The application cross through the translation of any assessment tool is a controversial topic. Some authors criticize the possibility that the concept of quality of life may be linked to non-culture (Fox-Rushby and Parker, 1995).

Moreover, at an abstract level, some authors have considered that there is a "cultural universal" quality of life, that is, regardless of nation, culture or time, it is important that people feel well psychologically, have good Physical and feel socially integrated and functionally competent (Bullinger, 1993).

The search for an instrument to assess quality of life in a truly international perspective has led the World Health Organization to organize a multicenter collaborative project. The result of this project was the development of the WHOQOL-100, an instrument for assessing quality of life consists of 100 items, which are those that characterize the quality of life in people:

Domain I - Domain physical

1. Pain and discomfort

2. Energy and fatigue

3. Sleep and rest

Domain VI-Spiritual Aspects / Religion / Personal Beliefs

As you can analyze the quality of life is not a concept as subjective, and if we change small habits with respect to these items above can have a more satisfying life. Who changes the world we are, but each one does for himself, and hardly will also serve for us.

So we must realize that "we must change the world to come to our interests" and not sit around waiting for luck to make because it only serves to whom it is prepared or preparing to be able to enjoy it.

We must not let the world that often dominate us, but that we master the world around us, not the sickly of the term, but seek to control things around us, and adjusting to the real important things, we managed to successfully in everything we planned to achieve. This will be achieved more easily if we can often "put into words what we feel accurately about things," each in his way.

Some do it through science, technology, philosophy, literature, poetry, soccer, music, and especially religion, and I do not discount any of them, all are important. And to the defeatists and those who want to "amputate" the expressions of the human mind to believe that they have more "open", and it is achieved through knowledge. And mankind is very important to treat with the "methodology of trial and error."

Do need money to change things because "only watch works of grace and of scientific knowledge because we need to develop people and institutions in becoming a first world country, not financially, but mostly from people who live better and with a life designed for efficiency in its various aspects.
