This way they are able to generate expert and niche identities for themselves that provide credibility to their businesses without having to worry about looking like a dabbler. You wont have to worry about someone saying but dont you also sell to a conflicting market? because youll be doing so under another name. Sadly, however, one of several bigger reasons that people do IM business under a pseudonym is that they are trying to evade the responsibilities that come with running a business, like paying taxes. They often think that if they do not work under their legal names then they do not have to report any of the money that they earn to the IRS. Do not fall for this sort of reasoning. Even if you work under a different name the income counts as income and you are responsible for it. Further, the IRS will discover what you're up to and cheaters are always found out. Whether or not you choose to utilize a pseudonym for the business you are doing is totally your choice. For some people it is just simpler to have one name for their daily offline life and another for their online ventures. Other people like retaining things under their lawful names as it is just easier.
