Bradenton, also referred to as the Friendly City, is positioned in Manatee County in the state of Florida in the United States. The very first settlers arrived in Bradenton in 1842 and Bradenton was integrated as a city in 1903. The city took it's name from Dr. Joseph Braden who had a robust fort-like home that was employed as a haven for early settlers throughout fights by the indigenous Indians.
Bradenton plays host to Tropicana the multi-national juice b owned by Pepsi. Florida is renowned for it's oranges and Tropicana is a sizeable employing company in the city of Bradenton.
Bradenton is home to the Village of the Arts, a revived community directly south of downtown Braderton where special zoning laws enable local people to live and work in their homes. Several of these once dilapidated houses have been restored into studios, galleries, small restaurants and other small firms.
Braderton is Found just south of the Greater Tampa Bay, Bradenton is the heart of Manatee County and an incredible place to experience the arts, historic landmarks, enjoy the sun on the numerous beaches in the vicinity and spend an evening dining out or having a drink with friends in one of the several restaurants or pubs on downtown's notable Old Main Street.
The earliest person to this area now known as Bradenton was Hernando DeSoto in 1539, even though there was no city at that stage, it is evident that Hernando vistited this area when he arrived on Shaw's Point to initiate his 4,000 mile trek in search of El Dorado, "the lost city of gold." Previously known as the Town of Manatee, this area merged with Bradenton in the 1940s and now comprises the city's eastern half.
The white dome, one of Bradenton downtown Sky's easily recognizable buildings, is the Bishop Planetarium, housing one of the world's most sophisticated planetarium projectors. Its advanced projector will take visitors on a visual voyage through the galaxy whilst they unwind in comfortable seats and stare at the theater's jaw-dropping graphics. Snooty, the oldest living manatee on the planet born in captivity, lives in the Parker Aquarium in Braderton, and the museum's exhibits section takes visitors up close and personal with the life that once scoured the area, including the instruments and equipment used by ancient men, and a great deal more. A few years back a visitor of the Smithsonian described it as among the best small museums in the United States.
