Does sycophancy exists in animal world? It is difficult to say yes or no. The communication among animals is less known and less understood by man. But definitely, sycophancy is very common in human world.
In human world, nothing survives like sycophancy. The theory of survival of the fittest failed to accommodate sycophants as most successful species.

Entrepreneurs are the soft target or prey of sycophants. More often, entrepreneurs take many decisions on gut basis. When gut prevails in the decision process, naturally a space for endorsement or support for such decisions will inevitably form. Sycophants naturally identify the space nicely and occupy. More often, entrepreneurs encourage sycophants to fill the inner need and assertion to their decision is right.
Why sycophants exist in human world? The simple reason could be easy way out to survive. Just praise and say yes to every thing. Nothing matters, no loss but only gain. For telling just yes, one gets everything.
Sycophants enjoy great respect in most corporate. Being a sycophant to a sycophant is much easier way to survive in the corporate world.
In animal world, sycophancy is less likely to happen. Dominance and submissiveness do occur in animal world but it cannot be compared to sycophancy as physical need dominate in animal world than the psychological need. Like man, animals unlikely to seek or enjoy flattery and hence sycophants and sycophancy less likely possiility in animal world
Sycophants are made or are getting created naturally. Certainly, they are made. Every achiever in particular and every human being in general, always look for some one to appreciate and praise them. When certain returns are assured, people become sycophants. Returns are more assured from achievers or entrepreneurs. In truth, sycophants are created by the achievers and entrepreneurs for self gratification.
Once some thing is created, the creation process of the same continues automatically. Entrepreneurs also derive lot of pleasure from this group of people. After all, man live for nothing but pleasure, so sycophants are bred.
