In 1958 he exported his idea to Syria and made a very short lived union with the Syrians that lasted for three tumultuous years. The Syrians, belonging to the Assyrian race, rejected the African Egyptians, and broke the unity with Egypt following the intention of Nasser to take the gold reserve of Syria and to export one million peasants of Suaydis of Egypt to Syria.
The Africans went home and Nasser kept on vouching for his crippled ideas of Arabism until his death in 1970. Nothing came out of Nasser's efforts except more dissension and more havoc, abortive wars with the Israelis and sowing terror in some Arab states.
The second movement of the abortive messianic message of pan Arabism is the Bath Party in Syria dn in Iraq. A Syrian Christian heretic, Michel Aflaq, called for Pan Arabism and established his party in Damascus in 1935 propounding a nonsensical doctrine of Arabs and how they should unite.
The effort here was so obvious, being created by a Christian, to break away with Islam, being the religion of most Arabs, and to construct a society based on Arabism. He did not find, of course, anything in Arabism to draw out a societal structure of rules so he called for another form of romantic socialism imported again from Russia with hatred and dissension.
The Syrian Bath regime ruling from 1960, by a brief coup d'etat, which brought the Alawites of the Syrian population to power ever since.
The reason for these to come to power is that they inscribed themselves in the army in the fifties while city dwellers abstained from entering the army leaving it to the peasants. The Syrian regime vouched for abortive ideas of Bathism to unite the Arabs and suffered seclusion and marginalization because of these ideas.
Saddam Hussein, adopted Bathism romantic and bankrupt borrowed crookedly from the socialist-Marxist ideology but failed utterly to unite the Arabs, even Iraqis with Syrians together, belonging to the same ideology. In fact the two Bath parties ruling in Iraq and Syria were in constant conflict and hatred and their citizens were never allowed to cross borders.
Iraq was dominated by a mad despot, replaced now by the mad America Zulu chief of the White House, while Syria continues to submit itself to the tyranny of Assad's dynasty of absolute despotism.
What did Arabism contribute to the people? Nothing but bullshit, abasement, murder, dominance and bloody useless wars!
Kaddhafi, in his megalomaniac wisdom, formed a very short lived call for pan Arabism that never saw the light, thinking himself the successor of Nasser coming to power in Libya in 1970. He asked some school teachers to write few pages and he labled it as the Green book, prescribing his own vision of the Arab world and pan Arabism. Absolute nonsense coming from a mad animal. Then failing to unite the Arabs under his Berber cloak he turned to pan Africanism.
Arabism is an empty idea that serves the inetrests of Arab dictaors and the outsiderpowers. It is vouched by Christians and Jews and the enemies of Islam for fear of Islam. Since Islam was and still is a complete menace to these enemies of Islam, Arab rulers included. It is the only uniting force with fully fledged codes and rules in every aspect of the individual's lifeand the community. It was the only uniting force of the Arabs, and non-Arabs, and still is, if applied.
Islam is the enemy of the Devil!
Arab states are still in a state of havoc and chaos, ruled by absolute dictators and tyrants, called presidents, kings, emirs and one Sultan ( of Oman).
Arab counties, handicapped with the emptiness of Arabism, adopt romantic and crooked ideas of socialism, romantic and crooked ideas of capitalism, but one thing is sure, the one man despot is the common factor in these miserable societies identified by historians as Arabs.
