Soldado Barrett shot it out with a fellow Afghanistan veteran and current SLC.UT police officer just minutesafter he was led compliantly by an elderlyfemale clerk, outthe basement parking garage under the Grand America Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.Some are calling this a landmark.

Soldado Barrett is no longer with us to describe the problems he had faced. That's too bad. He became one less irritation for city leaders to deal with in then culpifying the DoD for his death - they SLCPD had gunned him down in their own backyard.
What's the real story behind this failure in this broader context and, why all the hoopla, revised local stories in the SLC Tribune and awards for bravery in gunning him down?
Others recount a confused AWOL soldier overlooked in the system who had reached out for help via what some are hailing as the panacea today - social media outlets. Soldado barrett was inside the paradigm of a culture pushing a faceBook democracy.
Yet, there's a rag to wipe away all the blood and tears in this story - it's known as the Salt Lake Tribune - a notorious tool of media juxtaposing a culture continuously depicting US soldier's and their service, as throw-aways and damaged goods behind what else - you guessed it.

More questions than answers remain surrounding Barrett'sfatal ending?The laundry list includes how Barrett wound up in a basement parking structure, in full battle uniform, reportedly packing 1,000 rounds and an AR-15 while the Tribune who reported it, later revised its sensationalism in reporting the number of rounds to 200.The awards of bravery given out to those assisting in Barrett's death, had been a prime-time media frenzy on the local SLC.UT tube.
Mae Culpa:
While Salt Lake would later issue a Mae Culpa on Barrett's death, it was at the time of incident heralded by Salt Lake's own controversial stance on the army of undocumented occupation in America as contrast sharply to that of Arizona's recent adoption of SB-1070.
Utah's general issue of empowering soldiers coems with a medication plan and a lottery ticket for bedspace to lay your bones in your old age.
You would think empowering returning soldiers was a no brain-er for city leaders sloganeering to the top of a princess government soldiers are being buried under.
