If you're looking to purchase exercising equipment for your home and are wondering what would be the best for your overall health & losing weight, what you're looking for is, treadmills.
If you're going to choose only one piece of exercising equipment, than you must go for a treadmill. Why? Well, from my experience of going to the gym regularly for years, the one machine that I've found works best for me is treadmills. Once I started running on the treadmill regularly, I saw a dramatic decrease in my weight and now I am at a healthy weight range thanks to running.
Strength training and all that is great, but running is by far the best way to get in shape. Sure, you don't need to purchase a treadmill to run regularly, and there is plenty of room outside to run for sure! If that is how you choose to run, more power to ya'; go for it.
But if you're like me, and you live in a city, running outside can be a pain. I hate running in a crowded city, dodging people and traffic. Personally, I like my runs to be a little less stressful. Just me and my headphones (or occasionally the television). That alone is enough for me, I enjoy exercising alone in the comfort of my own home.
Purchasing your own treadmill, and exercising equipment in general, allows you to avoid being forced to exercise with strangers at a gym, or being hawked at on the street while you run.
But if that doesn't bother you, again, more power to you. Just as long as you know running is the best kind of exercise for your body. If at all possible, you should make it a daily habit.
Of course, some may have to worry about their joints as running can take a toll on them. In that case, you may want to consider an elliptical. However, using a treadmill, if your bones can take it, strengthens your legs at the same time from the force; which in turn grows muscle mass and that contributes to weight loss.
But just remember, if you had only one exercise to do for the rest of your life, you better make that exercise running/jogging.
