subject: Dynamic Display Of Advertisements By Digital Signage [print this page]

The days of painted billboards are numberedThe days of painted billboards are numbered. First only found in the high tech sections of Tokyo, London, and New York City, digital signage is expanding into a worldwide advertising phenomenon. It combines a multimedia approach that is also easy to modify as needed. This, and for so many other reasons, digital signage is on the crest of the wave of the future of advertising.

Digital signage is one of many terms used to describe advertising your product or brand in a dynamic way by displaying images, text, or animation on a video screen. With the continually dropping cost of LCD and other flat panel televisions, digital signage is becoming the most cost-effective choice for businesses large and small. It is cost effective because you can instantly target your audience with an advertisement that might interest them without having to physically change anything. For example, a digital sign outside of a movie theater could advertise upcoming films that are related to the one that will be showing next.

Digital signage also has non-advertising uses. In a subway or railway station it can be used to provide continual updates about the status of trains as well as give local weather and news flashes. Advertisements could also be interspersed. It has been found that this type of digital signage put anywhere that people have to wait in line makes the perceived wait time less. In a crowded restaurant, this can make all the difference if someone is going to enjoy their evening or not.
