I recently turned my thought towards the continuous allegations Disney has been going through. Since I was aware of such blames of introducing subliminal sexual messages in its movies; I never wanted to see or learn more about them. Because I am quite a dreamy person and my dream base has always been Disney.
Although being a very very very (very very! believe me.... too much) inquisitive by nature, I tried my best not put my head into it and close my eyes and ears (like an Ostrich) towards this. But I read a novel Da Vinci Code (again due to the my suspense of why is it so controversial); Dan Brown mentioned Disney's movie The Lion King having the word "SEX" forming due to pollens for less than a second. This could not stop me!!!
I logged into YouTube, and entered subliminal messages in Disney, to my surprise there were links and links which would not end. I started viewing each one after the other, I could very well find that Disney does have subliminal sex messages in its cartoons. This was disappointing but I thought may be the cartoonists wanted to have some fun and were just being naughty. I would honestly say, out of hundreds of links which lead to Disney's subliminal messages, only very few are genuine. But anyway even if cartoonists were being mischievous, it wouldn't matter a micro second of "SEX" in 2 hour movie. (would it??) But I didn't realize that subliminal was not just a word, it had greater effect and meaning. Subliminal messages are conceptually very powerful hidden, subtle and very sublime images or words which are not visible obviously but can be seen if tried very carefully. They are supposed to have a great impact to our thought process. This is usually done in marketing various products to register it in your brain. It has a very psychological effect.
So back to Disney and its messages- Disney has been accused of many things, I will list a few that I am going to express my views about:
1) It induces sexual thoughts in children
2) It models the brain of children by showing
a) Only good built, V-shaped, Strong shouldered men are respected and can be main heroes.
b) The heroine is the one who is very beautiful, fair and good figured
c) The bad bodied people are always side characters who hold no importance to stories and if they do, that would only be by buttering the strongest man in the script, and is ready to take all kinds of humiliation.
3) It promotes Witchcraft such as Wizards, Witches, Magicians, Potions, Fairies, Spells etc.
There are many many similar accusations and for this, reports have been made, studies have been done, psychological experiments are carried out and submitted. Also, Walt Disney is said to belong to a cult group and he is trying to infiltrate children minds by involving signs and symbols of his group. But nothing has been proved yet. Some say "nothing is there" some say "Walt Disney is too powerful to be touched". Whatever the case be, the problem is - Can Disney really affect children minds to ruin the generations?
When I read comments below the videos, I see people cursing Disney for polluting their small, little, innocent children, few who like it, few say the uploader needs psychiatric help and many more. Most of the videos are humbug videos where they find "SEX" (I don't know how they see it!!) in the grass, walls, water spills and many unimaginable places. I genuinely try to find it, I stare at the picture with my eyes wide open (may be eye balls popping out!), without blinking, until my eyes become watery, BUT I CANNOT SEE IT!!!! But the uploaders do see it (I think that word is printed in tini wini micro form on their eye pupils!!).
Now my answer to allegation no. 1) It induces sexual thoughts in children
Really??????? People!! Instead of running behind Walt Disney (to his grave), and making such hullabaloo about subliminal messages in Disney, just open your eyes and ears and be more worried about the sexual messages which are not sublime!!! Like your all time favorites rap songs which are full of this, reality shows, paparazzi which does not stop taking sting operations and adult stuffs, even most of the favorite serials are named and are based ONLY on this, daily news paper articles have pages full of how to boost up your sex lives by food, exercise, games, perfumes and dressing etc. they have sex queries giving each and every detail. The humour now is only in double meanings, comedy shows, movies (Golmaal series and many more). I heard a kid in 6th saying her favorite series was "Desperate Housewives".... and another who likes "Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya hi Kijo". I was wondering that not only they understand adult stuff, they like it!!!!! Now what did Disney do?????
Children don't need to find subliminal words in cartoons, they see it right there everywhere if they were to find it "SEX and the City", "senSEX", "SEXophone", "SEXist"..... why worry about Disney showing it in grass or water or sky or hair or smoke???? Media has a very unsafe position, its informative and polluting at the same time.
For the second allegation

The answer to this is "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" and "The Beauty and the Beast". I didn't see Hunchback mentioned in any of the comments!!! Also even if Disney prototypes such things whats the harm in it??? If they say that Disney was inducing sexual thoughts and prototypes in children, why can't they say that induce thoughts of being healthy, clean and humble!!! Those (so called) beautiful, fair and good figured characters inspire children to look like them, eat healthy, keep themselves clean, be good to animals, be humble, respect elders and be good to people who are not good to you!!! What would people otherwise teach their children?
And No. 3) It promotes Witchcraft such as Wizards, Witches, Magicians, Potions, Fairies, Spells etc.
What else is fantasy then???? Apple falling on ground???? Disney has animated the stories told from generations to generations. Arabian Nights, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and many more. And believe me, Ive always wanted have some super power or magic, I always wanted to tickle my nose and change things magically, or open a bottle and find a Ginnie....
Yes, I stand totally in favour of Disney and I believe it's one of those institutions which will always add more sparkles in children's dreams and imaginations. It will always merge fantasy with morality and help parents grow their children by giving examples of Disney characters. Disney is the first to carve imagination on canvas and I don't know what more they have in store....
