Charging for services that are not offered by satellite TV providers in unethical, but still there are providers that do bill consumers for these services. One such branded company DirecTV has been alleged by a consumer to charge him a heft amount of about $200 for services that was not delivered to him. Although improper, but the satellite TV giant has done this rightly.
In fact, the company has been suspected of many goof ups and malpractices that it has continued to follow over the years since 2007. It is continuing with its deceptions and scams, even after paying a huge fine levied by Attorney General of United States of America. Moreover, the Better Business Bureau has even asked the company to pay restitution to all those who have been cheated.
It is expected that any business organization will follow certain rules and regulations, which is part of business ethics. There are certain business strategies and policies, which makes it clear that companies should to proper rules and by no means falter to obey these. In fact, cheating consumers is considered a crime in companies' legal books.
Yet, some of the companies do not hesitate to follow immoral and corrupt practices and mislead people at large. A business tycoon DirecTV is a glaring example of following business malpractices and deluge people into wrongly entering into contracts. It seems that the sole aim of DirecTV is to just earn huge revenues, for which it can go to any extent of trickery and cheat subscribers. There is another example of DirecTV scam that has come to forefront.
A subscriber has complained that DirecTV charged him for not offering certain HD services, when he changed his location. Even the image quality offered by standard definition was not up to the mark. There were lines, ghosts and other disturbances on his HDTV. So, he complained the DirecTV customer care and wanted them to install HD Receiver at his apartment. However, the company failed to do so, and they clarified that at their location HD DVR would also not function.
He was pissed off with this entire issue, and to make the matter worse, a DirecTV agent told him to discontinue services, but for this no early termination will be charged from him. But to his surprise post two weeks he received a bill with about $200 charged as early termination fee. This offended the subscriber highly and the DirecTV customer care has enjoyed a narrow escape by saying that the fee was valid and that it was a mistake on the part of DirecTV agent, who him the wrong information.
But the question is that why would a subscriber suffer for negligence on the part of DirecTV employees? Moreover, asking him to pay for something, which was not delivered, is completely wrong. In fact, for once a person can understand that a certain equipment in non-functional in a certain area, but why this unclear goof up regarding early termination fee? Why is company bent upon just misleading subscribers? Answers to any question are awaited by the subscriber as well as all of us.
