Terran Strategies To Beat Any Opponent

This article will discuss some of the strategies and tips that you should keep in mind while playing as the Terran in Starcraft 2. The Terran has a couple of advantages that you could use when playing online and I will try to go through a few of these in this guide.

The Terran is an overall more balanced race than the Protoss or Zerg. They can be used in a variety of different situations and can adapt quickly to changes on the battlefield. You can modify your command centres and transform your viking units as the situation calls for it. The Terrans also have huge body armour suits and use powerful vehicles like tanks and thors to beat their opponents. If you have a good strategy playbook, you would be able to handle almost any situation.

When most players start to play online for the first time, they usually end up playing as the Terran race. This is no doubt because of the fact that they have spent the whole single player campaign playing and learning the Terran race. But instead of always playing as the Terran, why not play as the Zerg or Protoss, and use the knowledge you have of the Terran race to come up with some intuitive counter strategies. Also keep in mind that some of the Terran units available in the single player campaign are not available in the multiplayer section.

When playing as the Terran race, the marine is the first combat ready unit available to you for production. A big advantage for the marines is that they have the ability to attack both air and ground units. This makes them really versatile and helpful in numerous situations. If you upgrade your marines with the combat shield ability, they will be able to endure more serious attacks and defend quite well on their own, but as with most other units in Starcraft 2, the marines will be much more effective when used and paired up with other types of units.

For instance, you could also upgrade your marines with the stimpack ability. This ability is like a double edged sword. On the one side it boosts their speed and firepower damage, but on the other, it takes away some of the units' health. So when pairing up units, it would be a good idea to put a few medivacs with the marines. The medivac is not only a transport ship, but also functions as a healing unit. The healing effect of the medivacs will make for longer lasting marine soldiers, even when they are using stimpacks or fighting more advanced enemies.

Try to expand your base as quickly as possible. A second base means that you will get more resources faster. With resources flowing in faster, you will get to build more units and research upgrades more quickly as well. But be aware that there are also risks involved when expanding. Your enemy will be on the lookout for your expansions, so you need to protect your extra base if you don't want to lose it to an aware opponent.

The Terran is overall really well balanced in their defensive and offensive capabilities and can be a fantastic race to play with if you know how to utilise them to their fullest potential. Never give up and always try out new strategies and unit combinations to see what works best. Good luck!
