The first step would be to measure and cut the cover stock. The cover stock, also known as card stock or pasteboard, is a paper stock that is thicker and more durable than normal writing or printing paper, but thinner and more flexible than other forms of paperboard. Make sure that your cover stock is the exact same size as the pages of your book. Measure half an inch from what will be the left-hand edge of the front cover, and create a crease on the cover stock to allow the front cover to open easily.
Now, you should measure half an inch from the top and bottom of the piece of cover stock that you will be using as a front cover. Measure the space in between these two areas, and take note. Mark these spots, as these will be where you will be punching holes and driving waxed thread through. The next step is to stack the pages of your book on top of the back cover. Then, place the front cover on top of the stack. In other words, you should sandwich the pages between the two covers ? front and back. The scored line on the top cover should be on the left side of the stack, like the spines of the pages. Tap the spine of the book against a table top to line up all of the book?s pages.
In order to hold everything in place, you can utilize spring clips before you proceed with punching holes through the covers. Upon creating the holes, you can then thread the needle and sew up your book beginning from the center holes and going towards the top and bottom edges of the book.
