Volkswagen reintroduced the Scirocco model in 2008, it is a 3 door sporty hatchback built at the AutoEuropa plant in Portugal. The newest Scirocco was awarded a 5 star safety rating by EuroNCAP, it scored well in all four categories of adult occupancy, child occupancy, pedestrian safety and safety assist.

Since its initial introduction there have been more models added to the range, the Scirocco R and BlueMotion models were added later in 2009. The Scirocco R model is heavily based on the GT24 with a 2.0 litre TSI engine that produces 261bhp and comes as standard with a 6-speed dual clutch transmission. The BlueMotion model harnesses VW's BlueMotion technology to reduce CO2 emissions and give better miles per gallon. It features a 68Ah battery, special tyres and other gearbox specifications to make it more efficient.Since its initial introduction there have been more models added to the range, the Scirocco R and BlueMotion models were added later in 2009. Now in 2011 the Scirocco has won the Sports Car category of the Parkers' New Car Awards, other VW models were highly commended in the awards but only the Scirocco walked away with an award making a used VW Scirocco even more desirable.

Kieren Puffett the Editor of Parkers said, "A 1.4-litre engine may sound too small to deliver performance worthy of a sports car but this TSI engine is a gem with a sub 10-second 0-62 mph and top speed of 124 mph - plus you get all the economical benefits of a smaller engine including a claimed average 44 mpg fuel consumption and a road tax that costs 125 a year. So for delivering performance, fun and low costs the Scirocco is the Sports Car that makes the car buyer's cash go the furthest."Kieren Puffett the Editor of Parkers said, "A 1.4-litre engine may sound too small to deliver performance worthy of a sports car but this TSI engine is a gem with a sub 10-second 0-62 mph and top speed of 124 mph - plus you get all the economical benefits of a smaller engine including a claimed average 44 mpg fuel consumption and a road tax that costs 125 a year.
