Healing Energies of the Heart
Healing Energies of the Heart

Having been raised as a Roman Catholic, life seemed pretty much cut and dry. There was Mass followed by Sunday school, Saints were to be revered and statues made in their likeness. Priests gave their blessings, the Pope was infallible, and nuns were just that; none of this and none of that.

At no time was anything said about spiritual gifts aside from the special dispensations of the Saints. Everything was ornately wrapped in a tidy little box with an equally lavish tag saying, "In a galaxy far, far away there used to be people in a time long ago that could do and say special things." Of course, as with any carefully crafted fairytale; the audience is always discouraged from direct participation. After all, you are allowed to acknowledge and adore these special people, just don't expect to ever be one.

Heart of Stone

Getting back to the banana peels of life, a strange thing happened on the way back from the forum. One evening I was invited to attend a prayer meeting at the house of one of the parishioners of a non-denominational church I was attending. Several of us had gathered together, some I knew and some I didn't. As the evening progressed we chatted, exchanged prayer requests, and then decided to stand and hold hands in silent prayer. Pretty normal and uneventful meeting to this point, yet what came next was anything but.

As we closed our eyes I started to receive a strange vision of a heart made of stone. Having strangely symbolic visions was nothing new to me, since that seemed to be the mode of my psychic experiences as it were. For some reason, I'm sure it was a spiritual nudging, I felt compelled to send energy to this heart. As the energy started to flow to the vision I noticed that it began to take on a more fleshly tone. At this point I became a little perplexed as to what was happening and said to myself, "Okay lord, I'm going to open my eyes, look around, and if the image is still there when I close them again I'll continue."

Seeing that everyone still had their eyes closed in silent prayer, I closed my eyes once again. To my surprise, the vision was still there just as I left if; a heart, half flesh and half stone. True to my word, I began to send volley after volley of energy to the heart until it finally became whole and flesh. Just as this happened, one of the guys in the group opposite me began to cry. His tears and emotions became so overwhelming that he had to sit down.

As his sobbing continued, one of the girls in the group came and knelt in front of him asking him what was wrong. He then started to relate how he had always been a very cold and unemotional person in school, always pretending to care when he didn't. As he continued to explain he said that something had just happened to him that changed all that, he could actually feel now. No, I didn't lay claim to any miraculous feats; in fact, I thanked God and was extremely happy for the young man.

On a more personal level though, I was a little stumped. Having been raised a Catholic, I was familiar with miraculous healings; however, those talents were supposed to be reserved for saints and special people. Ah ha, I thought, either I'm a special person or we're all special people who have been duped into believing nothing special could ever happen to us. Knowing me, I was more inclined to believe the later. We're all special people with special abilities and like spectators to a play we watch without ever realizing that we are in fact part of the play.

Heart of Tar

While attending another church a few years later, I was confronted again with a similar vision. This time it was a vision of a heart that looked tarred and dirty. As I witnessed this vision I was again compelled to send energy. This time the tar started to subside and the heart began to take on a healthy glow. Just as it happened, a man sitting behind me to the left began to cry out loud and uncontrollably. My first thought was, oh my, what happened now?

With that, the person hosting the meeting asked this guy what had happened. Through his tears he began to explain that he had become bitter and full of resentment over the past few years. For some reason, he continued, all of that bitterness just melted away and was gone. Without a doubt, another miracle had taken place for someone who really needed one.

That night, a man who was feeling lost, confused and abandoned was able to find his way back to the path of the living. For whatever reason it was the right time and place to happen. My reason for relating this story now and not at the time it happened is due in large part to the fact I have no need for personal glorification, but rather to simply say, "Anyone can do this if only they realize that life is not a play to be passively watched but something to participate in, cherished and experienced to its fullest."

Being Open

One of the things I like most about the current energy healing trend is its tendency to pull the passive spectator into an active participation mode. Although some people may be naturally given to healing with spiritual energies, it doesn't mean that only a lucky few can realize it. Everyone can, if they so desire to, it only takes a little time, patience, and a willingness to be open to the strange and unusual world of the spirit.

I say strange and unusual because we have been indoctrinated into a world of tangible dimensions. Everything we do has to have some form of quantitative or qualitative measurement applied to it. With the spirit world, on the other hand, the tangible is an intangible. In order to better understand this world, we must first realize that our earthly senses are very limited in this area. It is a world that cannot be felt, heard, tasted, seen or touched but can only be reached through the higher spiritual senses of faith, hope, and love.

Conclusion

Of the two heart healings that I've shared here, both illustrate a common denominator of hope. Hope that at any given point human kind is not doomed to a life without some form of personal redemption. Each of these young men found their redemption where and when they could have least expected it. One was destined to live a miserable life of irreconcilable hurt and pain, while the other was sentenced to be an antisocial outcast or at worst a sociopath without any glimmer of human regard. All of that changed; however, in the span of a literal heartbeat.
