Michigan Buick Dealers Learn Buick LaCrosse Delivers Higher Fuel Efficiency than Competitors

DETROIT, M.I. Michigan Buick dealers may be interested to learn which models are expected to be beat by the Buick LaCrosse's higher fuel efficiency.

The Buick LaCrosse is equipped with an already efficient four-cylinder engine, but General Motors took technology further by adding eAssist to the newest LaCrosse model. General Motor's eAssist system offers power three times of that in the older models as well as gives the Buick LaCrosse a 25 percent increase in fuel economy, even with the same 2.4-liter engine as the 2011 LaCrosse.

With the new eAssist, the Buick LaCrosse may earn up to 25 mpg city and 37 mpg highway, beating competitors and certain hybrid models. The following is a list of vehicles the Buick LaCrosse is expected to beat in fuel economy:

Luxury Sedans

Acura TL

Lexus ES350

Lincoln MKS

Hybrids

Lincoln MKZ Hybrid

Toyota Camry Hybrid

Lexus HS Hybrid

Michigan Buick dealers may be interested to know that not only is the eAssist system lighter than other electrification forms, but also uses a 115V lithium-ion battery system and a 15-kW electric motor-generator which allows the Buick LaCrosse to take advantage of regenerative braked in whenever the driver is off the accelerator. The system uses stored power in some instances to provide more power than previous systems.

"All of these improvements deliver significant fuel-efficiency gains Buick customers will appreciate," said Tony DiSalle, U.S. Vice President of Buick marketing in a torquenews.com release. "With eAssist, Buick customers don't have to trade a premium driving experience for efficiency."

LaCrosse with eAssist consists of an ECO gauge on the instrument panel that continuously responds to driving behavior, which enhances the driving experience and helps the driver attain optimum performance. In addition, it features a hill-assist system that captures brake pressure to assist the driver to be able to more comfortably accelerate from a stop on an average or steep grade. It does this by greatly reducing the tendency of the auto to roll backward with the engine in shut-down mode.
