Social Media and the Advent of a New Decade

Hi there, with just a few weeks until the Christmas Festivities are in full swing I wanted to make sure I got ablog post out to you. It's important to me that I canprovide you guys with as much help, information and value as I can especially as we approach not only a new year but a new decade :)

2010 for mehas been a long year which has been filled with many happy times, learnings, challenges, successes and unprecedentedgrowth. I can honestly tell you that I had no clue when I left JPMorgan this time last year that this is where I would be one year on.Never did I imagine that I would be giving up one Global Head of FX eCommerce Sales Role only to be paving a pathin the Electronic World of Social Media and my own Global Coaching and Consulting Business instead!

I don't know if you are like me but as I reflect on the year I have to say that the biggest area's of development have been with Technology and Social Media. They have both been a massive component of my year and I know they will become even more present as we approach a new future. Have they touched your life in some way, shape or form as they have mine? A large majority of us already have a Smart Phone (mines an iphone 4), often using it to up-date our social media profiles as we go about our daily business. Most coffee shops and restaurants now have free wifi and I can't even count how many new ipad's I see on the tube and when I'm out. Dinner Parties have been reinvented to contain a new element of fun in the form of gaming consoles or utube evenings.

The next few years are going to be very interesting as we enter a new decade with technology and social media at the fore front of it. I am certain that after Christmas many of us will be proud new owners of brand new cutting edge gadgets and gizmo's such as ipads, electronic book readers like the Kindle, games consoles like the Wii, ps3 or the Xbox with it's revolutionary "you are the controller" technology where no controllers are required as the controller is YOU! These are a few examples of how technology and social media are changing the way we interact and live today. If you have managed to dodge the tidal wave of technology and social networking then well done but be prepared to ride that wave from 2011 and beyond. I wonder in amazement as to what's coming next.....
