The final race of the Cytech UAE GT and UAE Sportscars championship was hosted on the 26th of March on the Yas Marina Circuit after a long and intense season.Team MSW Racing have just returned from the spectacular Yas Marina circuit with an incredible 3 winners trophies awarded to us in three separate UAE National championship classes!
The ARM/ MSW supported Porsche GT3 Cup won the GTB UAE Championship with the driver line up of Jon Sommonds Phil Quaife and Tarek Elgammal. A special thanks to Jon Simmonds and his trust to deliver the title at the end of the season.
The Porsche GT3 Cup car, which was prepared throughout the entire race season by ARM, came first in the last UAE GTB event, which secured them the overall win and Cytech GTB UAE championship title in the drivers and the team rankings. On this point, I am keen to acknowledge the vital role and efforts played by Alex Renner and his ARM team of engineers and technicians who prepare and run the MSW liveried #22 Porsche 997 Cup car driven by myself and my co-drive Phil Quaife in the UAE GTB championship. As team manager my responsibility is to have the most able people taking care of each car and that is why I chose to have ARMotors run the Porsche. Special mention also must go to Phil Quaife who delivered a master-class in how to hunt down the opposition when he assumed driving duties at the half-way point of the race.During the 2010/11 season ARM/ MSW faced several setbacks; 2 tire punctures in two different races, wrong tire supply and a gear box failure influenced the outcome of previous races. Despite these setbacks the season ended on a high with the victory in the last race. "To win the championship in the last race added to the drama we experienced throughout the season" said Alex Renner, Team Principal of ARM. He added," We won the GTB UAE Championship twice in a row now. To earn the UAE GTB title was due to very hard work continues improvements with drivers, car and the team and correct strategic decisions before and during races."
